Material Evaluation - ESD Testing Lab
SH&A maintains one of the world's leading independent electrostatic testing facilities. It is dedicated to the evaluation of materials and products used for static control applications.
Testing is conducted for both product development and industry performance specifications. SH&A methodology conforms to established guidelines, including Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Association, ASTM, NFPA and others.
SH&A's testing services have led to the development of many of the industry's most important new static control products and evaluation procedures. These include advances in work surfaces, in-plant handling devices, flooring, packaging, raw materials and equipment.
As an independent ESD test lab in north America that is a member of ACIL (American Council of Independent Laboratories), our activities are for public use, and fully independent. While SH&A provides a variety of services to Military and Government agencies in several countries, SH&A is not government sponsored, or tax supported in any manner. SH&A is also a member of the National Conference of Standards Laboratories.
Facilities
SH&A's modern laboratory is located in a 6,000 ft2 facility that includes a training center and administrative offices. The laboratory is comprehensive, clean, well equipped and specifically designed for electrostatic material and product analysis. Specimen conditioning, including temperature and relative humidity, is controlled and maintained using custom made environmental chambers, each dedicated to defined test methodology. SH&A maintains all laboratory instrumentation within current calibration to NIST standards. The SH&A laboratory is a model for electrostatic testing and has been reproduced by several major corporations for their own internal use.
