Level 2: Program Design & Administration
Required Prerequisites: Be certified as an SH&A Certified ESD SpecialistSM Level 1: Plant Auditor, or have minimum of 1 year in- plant ESD auditor experience.
Learning Objectives
The SH&A Certified ESD SpecialistSM Level 2 Program course will teach advanced elements of ESD Program Design, Documentation, Implementation and Management in accordance with ANSI/ESD S20.20 and IEC 61340-5-1. It includes advanced Process Capability Analysis, Troubling Shooting and Supplier Auditing techniques.
This course is 5 days (Monday – Friday) of intensive classroom study that includes the following subjects:
- Advanced ESD Basics & Calculations
- Standards, Product Evaluation & Measurements
- Technical Trends & Concerns
- Overview of ANSI/ESD S20.20-2007 & IEC 61340-5-1
o Selecting & Qualifying ESD Products & Materials
o Review of reference standard documents
- EPA Design Considerations
o General Grounding Options
o Personnel Grounding Options
o EPA Control Elements
- Basic vs. Complex Design
- Detailed Review & Discussion of Control Options, including Pro’s and Con’s
- ESD Packaging Considerations
- Compliance Verification Assessments
- Personnel Training Issues & Considerations
- Facility Certification: Program Overview & Checklist
- Process Capability Assessment Techniques
- Process Troubleshooting Techniques
- Supplier Auditing Procedures
Attendees completing the course and exam will be able to design and document an effective ESD Program based on the sensitivity of the devices handled in their process.
A written certification exam will be administered on the last day of the program. Attendees who achieve a passing grade are designated as SH&A Certified ESD SpecialistSM Level 2: Program Design & Administrator.
